1 If you were Christopher Columbus, what would you do differently than the other Christopher Columbus to achieve your goals?

If I am Christopher Columbus, I will not just for find gold. For my travel, I will try to research the different land have different people, and different cultures. The fiest travel is very long, when I first land on the new world, I will go to visit the island, and lived for couple times, to know what is the area of this land, how about this island climate, weather, what kind of crop can be plant, is good for people to live or not, how many different animals does this island have and so on. Not only for gold and spice, but also other resource and geographical conditions. When I first time meet the Native people, I will try to make friends with them, because they are earlier than me, they already lived on this island for thousand years, and they are the island leader. They are very good respondents for me, some questions we can ask them, because they know more than us about this island. If we can have them help, it can save a lot of time.

After that, I will back to my country with all my crews, I will not leave anyone on this island. Then I will give my report to the King and Queen, tell them how does the island look like and something else information about this island that we got it. Gold is very important, because we need money. However, I think to know the geographical conditions and use those advantage to develope this island is better than only find gold. Like the forest, this island have large forest, we can use this forest to have more wood, and build many things. Also the Ocean, because this island is around the sea, if we can develope the ocean area, we can get more fish and other resources. If we can completely use this island, we can get much money than we just only find gold. Then I will try the second time to the island and try to do more research for the island. If we can teach the Indians agriculture and our language and our culture, so we can make this island become our colony.

After I changed this island became our colony, I will do the same thing with Columbus. I will continue my travel to through the Ocean and research all the island of South America and draw the map about islands. I believe not only that island, there are thousands of island that we didn't find yet. I believe if we can through the ocean to do the long travel, finnally we will back to our country. Travel is a kind of find treasure hunt, from our travel we can get many things from different islands. When I second and third time find the new islands and find the new people lived, I will do the same research for the islands. So my goal is to keep travel to find islands and develope those islands, spread our culture and change them became our colonies. I believe if I can continue travel I will find all the lands on the Earth, then my country will be stronger, we will not have resources shortage any more.

2 Research a SaCaI country and explain how it is still influenced by its pre-Columbian past.

As we know, after Columbus traveled for a long time, the European culture was spread in the world. There are many places influenced by pre Columbian, such as South America and North America. Those people who lived in South America and North America, their ancestor is Asian. Thousands years ago some Asian people migration to those island, and built their own culture, that is Amerindians. They built their own culture for thousand years until Columbus came to this island. Many cultures were destroyed by pre Columbian, such as the Maya. Maya had their own written records. Because most Christian Europeans of the time viewed such texts as heretical, they destroyed many texts in pyres. So those precious culture heritage were dispread by the colonist. But pre Columbian also bring many advanced to the SaCaI, it push forward the human history on those island.

The Lenape are Native American peopel in Canada and the United States. They are also called Delaware Indians. As a result of the American Revolutionary War, later the Indian removals from the eastern United States, the main groups now live in Ontario, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Groups of self-identified Lenape, such as the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, also live in other places where they are not officially recognized by the nation state. At the time of European contact in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Lenape inhabited a region on the North Atlantic coast, called the Northeastern Woodlands, which means Lenape country. Although never politically unified, it is frequently referred to as Lenape Country. Lenapehoking hosted over two dozen Lenape polities. Some of their names, remain inscribed on the landscape. On the mid-seventeenth century, it has been estimated that most Lenape polities consisted of several hundred people.

Nowadays, most Lenapes are native English speakers. In the seventeenth century, the Lenape spoke several closely related languages or dialects, such as Unami and Munsee, that are collectively known as the Delaware languages and have been classified by linguists as belonging to the Eastern Algonquian language group. Due to aggressive European expansion and the resulting migrations, population losses, and political reorganization, Lenape languages had converged by the mid-eighteenth century. Unami and Munsee were now the most dominant. Another hundred years of forced migrations left the languages vulnerable. They hardly survived the U.S. Indian policies of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Various people made efforts to revive or at least document Unami and Munsee in the late twentieth century. That is history issues. Pre Columbian bring them many new things and influence those people’s life style and became that what we saw today. Some of them were throw their old tradition and combine the European into their culture, that is one of the prove of pre Columbian Exchange influence.

3 Write your own question about the Columbian Exchange and answer it.

What is the benefit and disadvantage for Columbian Exchange?

I think, the Columbian Exchange has many benefit and also some disadvantage. For benefit is Columbian Exchange were related all the island and mainland, change the people’s immigration, open the new colonies and bring European culture to tribes. It was change their culture and language and push forward the human history, that made them became the normal society.

The disadvantage is because they bring the new culture for the native people, many native culture and Indian culture were dispread by Columbian Exchange. They cannot avoid this culture invaded, and their culture cannot combine together, under the violence and savage invaded, many precious culture were destroy by Columbian Exchange. Today we just can find a few historical remains and some literature to review those lose culture.

For Columbian Exchange has many benefit and also has some disadvantage. But what I think is benefit is more than disadvantage. I think there is no culture can be existed forever, although lose culture is too bad, but when we lose something it means we also get something new. The Columbian Exchange bring many new culture for us, change the human distribution on the Earth, spread knowledge and language all over the world.
